TALK, or better said, SEND TEXT MESSAGES

"Train a child in the right way and even in his old age, not abandon it." Proverbs 22: 6 (NIV)

Reading: ;

"I will not sign up for Facebook or I will send text messages. And I do not send them to me either. If you want to say something, you'll have to talk to me! You already know not even talk, "said the grandfather.

Your granddaughter replied, "But Grandpa, you're missing much of my life."
The grandfather replied sternly: "I do not care."

This conversation, I heard by chance, has stayed with me for days. I bet that Grandpa did care. Just do not know how to relate to her granddaughter and the new technology probably frightened him. I acknowledge that I too am scared. I do not like change but I have to accept the fact that the world is changing, like it or not.

When my children were small when breakfast consisted of food, prayer and reading the Bible together. Not worked outside the home as I do now, so I had time in the morning to dedicate solely to my children. Now my time is very different, not only do I have to make sure children are ready but I also I have to be ready. There are six people running from one place to another, struggling for two bathrooms, grab a quick bite and run away from home. I miss the old days when we were not so busy. Stranger in particular the time spent intentionally to teach my children what they consider most important: the Word of God. It seemed much easier to "educate the child" when they were young.

One night while watching my son Hayden who wrote text messages with your thumbs at the speed of lightning, a thought popped into my head. "Make a difference if I sent my children a text message with a verse from the Bible every day? Quickly dismiss the thought, I thought it was silly to send text messages to their cell phones when they should read the Word of God for themselves. Then I remembered my grandfather. His refusal to answer granddaughter and her grandfather was saying things about his life lost me sad. At that moment I decided that I wanted to be like him.

Send a text message every day with a verse from the Bible to my children may not change their lives dramatically, but maybe yes. I asked, "Jesus would send text messages if you were at this time?

While on earth Jesus used language that his audience understood, depending on where I was and the culture of that area. His purpose and message is not changed, but that gave way and sometimes it had changed. He did what was necessary to reach people. Walk, animals, sailed and taught at home, in the hills, at banquets and dinner table. I bet if it had been possible at that time, he would have sent text messages too.

about six months ago since I started sending text messages to my children. Usually I get a response like "thank you" or do not receive any response but sometimes I answer with another versículo.
